CLIA-Waived whole blood system that provides quantitative hemoglobin results
The new system combines the precision and accuracy of a laboratory measurement with a quick turn around time and ease of use
The new pocket size analyzer also stores results and QC results, together with date and time for up to 600 measurements
The dual wavelength photometers correct for lipemia, leucocytosis and other sources of turbidity
The unbreakable, disposable cuvette collects the exact amount of blood and mixes the sample with the reagents automatically
Once the cuvette is placed into the portable analyzer results will appear on the display screen in less than a minute
Utilize only 10 µL of capillary, venous or arterial blood
No calibration or instrument manipulation (between cuvette/reagent batches) needed
Measurement Range: 0 - 25.6 g/dL (0 - 256 g/L or 0 - 15.9 mmol/L)

HemoCue hemoglobin whole blood systems provide quick, simple, and accurate quantitative hemoglobin results with the same performance as a large hematology analyzer. The dual-wavelength photometers correct for lipemia, leukocytosis and other sources of turbidity.
Any blood source (capillary, venous, or arterial) can be used. The reliable cuvette collects the exact amount of blood and mixes the sample with the reagents automatically. Results appear on the display screen in less than a minute.
Hb 201+: The HemoCue Hb 201+ system is smaller than its predecessor and offers the same important benefits - simplicity, speed and a small sample volume together with laboratory precision and accuracy. The HemoCue Hb 201+ has an internal electronic selftest. Each time the analyzer is turned on, it will automatically verify the performance of the optronic unit. The test is performed every second hour if the analyzer is on. CLIA waived.

OB/GYN Applications:
Many women suffer from anemia, mainly due to pregnancy and heavy menstrual periods, bleeding fibroids or endometriosis. To detect the presence of anemia, and assess its severity, measurement of hemoglobin is required. By using a HemoCue hemoglobin system, the results are available while the patient is still present and if anemia is detected, sampling for additional laboratory tests can be performed during the same appointment. When the anemia is due to nutritional deficiency, hemoglobin alone provides a sensitive indication of therapeutic response.

Neonatal/Pediatric
One of the main causes of anemia in prematurity is the amount of blood removed for diagnostic tests. Using capillary blood with a HemoCue hemoglobin system can minimize trauma to pediatric patients. HemoCue hemoglobin systems utilize only 10 µL capillary, venous or arterial blood. The systems are portable and sampling can easily take place in an incubator. When intralipids are added to parental nutrition preparation, lipemia can occur and interfere with some diagnostic testing. HemoCue hemoglobin systems measure on two different wavelengths in order to compensate for turbidity e.g., due to lipids.

Family Practice
Laboratory studies are often performed in diagnosing anemia, resulting in patient treatment delays and increased costs. When distinguishing between anemia, a normal count and polycythemia, the measurement of hemoglobin is the most precise, accurate and useful laboratory test. By using a HemoCue hemoglobin system, the result is available while the patient is still present and decisions about the patient’s care can be made immediately. This is ideal for anemia screenings for school physicals.

Diabetes Care
Anemia is a common complication of diabetes and many individuals suffer from its symptoms like fatigue and inactivity. It often goes undiagnosed and untreated even though it may be one of the earliest signs of renal disease. Anemia seriously destabilizes not only a patient's health but also diminishes the quality of their life. Hemoglobin testing at the point-of-care is a quick and easy way to identify individuals at risk, allowing for immediate action and subsequent treatment.
