I have found that trying to shake down the thermometer after use can be difficult, so here's a pro tip I got. Put it in a sock, tip down, and swing it in a circle for several seconds. If it is stored lying down for more than a day the liquid will 'freeze' in place and not move or become fragmented, rendering the thermometer useless. -Customer
