troducing the Innovative Resus-A-Cradle ET II

This is the redesigned Easy Transport Cradle II. It now has slots on the top and at the foot to aid EMTs in transporting the babies into the hospital while still having enough slots to secure the baby to the board. It also comes in a brighter color to make it easier to find in a busy hospital as well as having a space on the back to write out return info. The safety straps used to secure the baby to the Cradle are included with the Easy Transport II Cradle.

The ONLY resuscitation support board designed by a midwife for stabilizing the head, neck and body of a newborn to help ensure an open airway. The Resus-A-Cradle removable support pad and its specially designed case allow all of your needed newborn supplies to be housed in one convenient, lightweight carrying case. Perfect for both homebirth, birth center midwives and other care providers.

-Also has a spot for owners name and contact info to help ensure safe return of Cradle after transfer into hospital. The current color of the cradle varies with the market. If you are curious as to the actual color, call or email to verify.
-Works with both the original and new larger size case.

The Resus-A-Cradle:

  • Is designed to help ensure the baby is positioned and stabilized for an open airway.
  • Includes soft foam fins that will allow the head to be stabilized for a wide variety of newborn sizes. (1)
  • Provides a neck area design which minimizes potential shifting of the newborn. (2)
  • Has a chest angle designed to help achieve the recommended “sniff” position. (3)
  • Has a main body of firm foam creating a stable surface if chest compressions are required. (4)
  • Is constructed of a sealed foam which is impervious to fluids and contamination.
  • Is easy to clean and disinfect.

Having the baby in a stable position allows the care provider to focus on ventilations and chest compressions without constant worry about repositioning the baby. Those who have ever resuscitated a newborn understand how much this will reduce stress. Knowing the baby has an open airway keeps the focus on resuscitation efforts.

Benefits:
  • No more struggling with flat plastic boards and rolled up receiving blankets under the baby’s shoulders or finding a surface to place them on to support the board and baby.
  • The removable support pad allows the baby to continue to be resuscitated with the umbilical cord still attached to maintain oxygen supply from the mother.
  • No more worrying during a resuscitation about the baby’s limp head and body shifting and causing the airway to close.
  • No more trying to ensure all of the equipment needed is together and easy for others to find in a critical moment.
  • Medications and syringes for postpartum hemorrhage can also be stored in the case especially for midwives in solo practice.

*Many care providers have found postpartum hemorrhage is an increased risk if the baby needs resuscitation

    Setting up the Resus-A-Cradle:
  • Place a receiving blanket or disposable pad on the Resus-A-Cradle.
  • Layer your heating pad and additional receiving blankets on top as you normally would.
  • The Resus-A-Cradle is easily removed from the case so it can be used to place the baby with the mother for the newborn exam.

Using the Resus-A-Cradle at every birth normalizes it and helps ensure that you are comfortable with positioning newborns.

For the Newborn Exam:
  • Place the baby scale sling in the Resus-A-Cradle first
  • Then place three disposable tape measures at the head, chest and abdomen levels to facilitate those measurements. Use a fourth tape measure to measure the baby’s length
  • Then simply lift the baby sling up to weigh the baby
  • Finish the rest of the exam with the newborn in the Resus-A-Cradle

5 of 5 LOVE the Resus-A-Cradle! October 9, 2023
Reviewer: Erika from Minnesota
We have been using a resus-a-cradle in my birth center for years and it is one of the very best pieces of equipment. It helps to get the baby in the perfect position, eliminating the need to create shoulder rolls for NRP. It provides a nice flat surface, is easy to clean, is lightweight. In my birth center, our main waterbirth tub is built in with a tile surround and this cradle is narrow enough that I can place it on the edge of our tub and perform a resuscitation right there, eliminating the need to cut the cord or move the mom from the birth tub in order to perform NRP. We set it up for every single birth and I wouldn't do it any other way.
